Indian Mathematician and astronomer!!!!!!!??????

Bhaskara2 or also known as Bhaskara Acharya was a very great

mathematician and astronomer. He was born in Bijjada Bida (Karnataka), in 1114. Bhaskara was the head of an astronomical observatory at Ujjain. As he has contributed a lot to mathematics and astonomy in the 12th century, he is also considered as a very famous mathematician of the medieval period. He wrote a book named “Siddhanta Siromani” which was actually divided into 4 major parts such as the following:

1. Lilavati (Arithmetic)

2. Bijaganita(Algebra)

3. Grahaganita (Mathematics of planets)

4. Goladhyaya(Spherical geometry)

Now let’s see in detail about some of his works and contributions:

1. Lilavat: .He wrote about some properties of zero.

.He found out inverse rules of 3,5.7,9 and 11.

.He was also capable of estimating “π”.

2. Bijaganita:

. He found out ways to solve quadratic equqtions with one or more unknown.

.And he also wrote a lot of things about Indetermiante quatric equations.

.He wrote mainly on determining unknown quantities.

3. Grahaganita: .He found about the moon’s crescent .

.Then about the lunar and the solar eclipse.

4. Goladhyaya: .About the nature of a sphere.

.Problems connected to astronomical calculations.

Apart, from these things he told a lot of things in trig-

onometry:

.If f(A)=f (B)=0 then f'(x)=0 for some x with a

.He also told x=y then sin(y) - sin(x)= (y-x) cos (y).

Due to all his contributions and hard work he is still considered as a "pioneer in modern mathematics".
