Euclid: a Greek mathematician !!

Euclid pronounced Eukleides in Ancient Greek, also known as Euclid of Alexandria, was a Greek mathematician. He was born approximatively in 325 B.C and he died in 265 B.C in Alexandria ( a city of Egypt in Africa).

He was famous mathématicien and also referred as «The father of Geometry» because of his « Element », one of his most influential works in the history of mathématics and was used in textbook for teaching maths.

In the Elements, Euclid deduced the principles of what is now called Euclidean geometry from a small set of axioms (basics things in geometry that we don’t need to demonstrate because it’s too obvious). He also wrote works on perspective, conic sections, spherical geometry, number theory

We don’t know much of his life, where’s born or the causes of his death.

We don’t have a description of him too.

We just know that he went to Egypt where he teached mathématics in a maths school that he founded. During that time he also did many research which one of his most succesfull was « Elements ».

« Elements » is a compilation of Geometry knwoledge. It’s divided in thirteen book: The first to the sixth book talk about plane géometry, the seventh to the nineth talk about theorie of relations, the tenth talk about irrational numbers of Eudoxus. The last books talks about solid géometry.

And of course he did many other works in other themes like the Euclidean Algorithm, a method to fin the HCF, for example.
