Galileo Galilei

Galileo Galilei was born at Pisa in 1564.He was Italian physicist , atronomer and mathematician whoplayed a major role in the scientific revolution. He is also called us the "father of modern observational astronomy".When he was a young man, he tried to complete a medical degree but instead he studied mathematics. At the age of 20 , he earned a post as a matematician at the Pisa tower .In 1609 ,Galileo produced the first telescope ( it is used to see objects which appear long ). After this discovery he discovered that there was craters on the moon and he also saw our Milky Way and he realised that our Earth is at the center of the universe. Then he concentrated in inventing the miltary compass.Later on with the help of another astronomer named Kepler, hefound a theory which explained the principal of the high and low tides => which was the moon. Then he aslo came to know the nature of comets (fiery body which fly across the sky once in 100 years). At the end of his life , he also tried to measure the speed of the light but he was unable to do this . After all his discoveries he wrote a book called " Le operazioni del compasso geometric et militaire ", it was about the military compass . When he was 70 , he was put under house arrest by all the Christians because he explained that the Eart was a sphere and then he was beaten to death. And he died in 8t January 1642.
